Top Tips for the Festive Season
Part 1:
The festive season can be a tricky one to navigate for all sorts of reasons. It can be a time when we need to digest a lot, and I don't just mean food.
These big holiday periods can hold a lot for us emotionally, as well as being fairly demanding on our digestive systems. Ayurveda sees everything we consume from food, drink, skin products, conversations, information, interactions and sensory stimulus as something we need to PROCESS. Our Pitta energy (Fire + Water) governs this part of us.
When Pitta is high we get excess heat and that means we can feel dissatisfied, overindulge, get a little hedonistic, irritable, over sensitive, jealous and sharp tongued. So as much as we all want to enjoy the season, it is also sensible to keep a check on how we are doing amongst it all so we don't push our Pitta into overdrive.
So instead of going seriously OTT on it all and craving DRASTIC change by January 1st, what about if you make a commitment to yourself now to move through with a little more awareness and support yourself the best way you can when excess simply can't be avoided?
This period is a perfect time for connecting with others, celebrating your life and what the year has brought you. But often we can get a little carried away with the festive fun and be left feeling a bit gross by January. These top tips are a useful guide to keep you in check and keep your digestive fire supported whilst still enjoying all that this season offers.
